Hi there, I have a question for you fellow chicken keepers.... I have a flock of 6 brahmas, approx 1 year old. I had 2 go broody at Easter and have been staying broody ever since, trying everything to break broodiness. I have 1 other one that was suffering from vent gleet and stopped laying. Anyways the other 3 are down to laying 1 egg every second day between the 3. Any tips on breaking broodiness and ideas why my 3 remaining hens would have stopped laying. Thanks.

Is it easy for the broody hens to steal eggs from other boxes? If so, the broody hens could be taking the eggs and putting them under themselves.

Broodies can also upset the flock just because they're grouchy and hormonal, so that could possibly be enough stress to cause other birds to slow laying.

As far as the broody breaking, what have you tried and for how long (i.e. you tried putting them in a wire crate, they stayed in for 5 days straight).

Thanks for reply. I placed them in wire crate yesterday.

Interesting I did notice that eggs were being laid early on in broodiness beside them and they were pulling them in. They are in chicken jail now.
