flock wiped out

So sorry about your losses but glad your survivor is doing well. I love may cameras. At first put them up out of curiosity of what predators may be lurking around especially at night and from losses in the past. A little tip for using live traps that have worked for me. If your roommate isn't able to catch it right away, bait the traps for a few days/nights and let the predator take the bait then set the trap. They will get used to going in the trap. Worked for me. Good luck...

Have them put a game cam out to see what shows up..then you'll know how to proceed. If its a mink they can be very very difficult to trap but its also not going to stick around forever. Mink have a big territory and they move through it

a nearby relative has a game cam and my roommate is going to set it up soon, i hope it’s not a mink because i know those are hard to keep out!

So sorry for your loss. How absolutely horrible. I hope your fayoumi does well and that you are either able to rehome her or perhaps find some new chickens to join her.

a coworker of mine has a couple of hens that she can’t keep because she’s moving, i might try and contact her about potentially adopting them but it all depends on how my roommates also feel because everyone is kind of raw after this :(
the same coworker also has an uncle with a farm where he raises chickens so if the roommates aren’t up for taking in a couple more, i can always ask if he’d take her

Appears to be good plans. It's hard when you're not there. We have most every predator but that is about the only one we don't have is any kind of weasel. Here is a bobcat sitting outside of my chick/grow-out coop the other night. I do have electric wires going around the coop and pens, concrete under the gates and good heavy duty netting covering the pens. Good luck...
