Flock

I wouldn't use one personally, do you live somewhere where noise is an issue? I would nt use on unless I had too. I think I would feel guilty putting one on, but others here may have other opinions.
I don't know that it's an issue, but I don't know that it isn't... So I am trying to make the right choice. At the moment they stress me out with worry about annoying the neighbours!

So one needs to go. Or both - which I thought was nice as they'll go together, and recognise each other in a new home, but maybe that's in my head? One is already showing some aggression (light Sussex) whereas the RIR is calm and friendly at the mo... But hasn't started ROOing!
I would keep just one if you want one and get rid of both if you don't want any roosters. I'm certain they won't be thinking about being buddies with each other no matter if their together or apart.

I think with worries about noise, I know the answer. And it isn't my favourite option :( as others have said, once the gentle roo has matured, he'll just be another nornal roo!

I am worried about noise.
Keep in mind that females can make quite racket too....but usually not before dawn.

Maybe as soon as the one is gone, within a week the other will start the same business.

If you don't want to hatch in the future, and deal with more males, I'd get rid of them both.

I disagree. I would keep one. They are great flock protectors, and they keep the ladies happy. He won’t be as loud without another rooster to compete with, and he won’t fight with the hens.

Fine to disagree :D
But considering this is probably a brand new chickeneer, males can be a challenge to deal with.
Crowing with neighbors might be very good to avoid.
And I don't think a male is necessarily a protector(more like a speed bump on the way to the buffet) especially when birds appear to be confined that aspect is not needed.
Hi. I have both boys with 8 hens in one run, with a 3 metre coop and a 200sq foot run. Thanks
Curious @Chuckkeeper is the coop 3 square meters or 3m x 3m?
Run is ~10' x 20'(3m x 6m)?

So, I didn't think I'd need to mention this as it was irrelevant, but now it is relevant! Elsewhere I have a small bantam set up, one boy five girls. What you are saying is what I thought, except I have already got one roo so this benefit is gone!

Hi. I still haven't decided what to do. I am either taking one or both to a local farm in a couple of hours - feeling sad about it! My plan is to have one flock of large hens in this large run and coop, and keep existing small flock of bantams inc. roo in a coop elsewhere in the garden.
The coop is about 3m*1.5m and the run is about 14*14ft

It's a hard decision, but the peace in the flock after they are gone will go a long way to salve any sadness. The girls will be much happier with those randy boys gone.
Can't remember if it was clarified, and not going to scroll back thru, but guessing these birds are about 3-4 months old?

Hi. Thank you. Yes that's correct. The farmer has some RIR layers for sale but I think I want to be more selective in terms of colour and appearance for a back yard flock. I'm about to take both boys :(
