Well since we lost 7 birds on Friday the 13th to some kind of predator. We decided to get some more and do a coop upgrade at the same time. This first shot is of the door with mechanical drill opener.

Here's our new nest boxes.

This corner will soon have a sink. For now its the transfer pump in a bucket run from the thousand gallon rain tank outside.

Here is a shot of the back window. It's got a computer fan hooked up to the solar panels. If you squint you can see it in the top.

This is a shot of the roost pole made out of a cedar post we had out back.

And for the finalie....the coup stache.

UPDATE:

The new sink is in. We ran a water hose in from the 1000 gal tank to the transfer pump and out to the sink.

Here is a shot of the transfer pump. Got it a while back for removing excess water from the yard. I think it was $80 from Lowes.

Here are the solar panels that run the computer fan to keep some of the heat out. Can't stay out there too long before your back sweat starts turning to butt sweat.

This shows the exterior drain and hose supply from the tank.

Here's the source for the water supply. Had to put in a T for clean out. That algae builds up quick.

Here are some of the turds.

Some more turds and a shot of the power strip used for the pump switch.

And more turds.

Hello from Ohio,

Our condolences for your loss. Glad to see you got to keep your sense of humor, love the stache!
I am new to this site and must say, not only did I get a kick out of seeing my first ever coopstache, I like your nest bucket ideal too.
Best wishes...

So sorry for your losses. It is never easy to lose them to predators.

Love the stache!!

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock!

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Sorry about your losses, good luck with the rest of the flock!

Welcome to BYC! Sorry about the loss of your birds. I would recommend running hardware cloth (not chicken wire) over the window (you might already be planning this), to protect the coop whenever you have the window open for ventilation. Otherwise, your coop is looking very secure. Good luck with your next flock.
