Flogging rooster

Sent my George to Camp Kenmore for the very same reason. He was sweet as pie for a long time, then started stalking people. I ignored it. one night my 13yo daughter went to the coop to medicate a different bird. He flew at her head, scratching her face & knocking her glasses off, breaking them. That was it. He went to Camp Kenmore that very night.

There you go. After a beloved pet rooster injures somebody you grow less fond of him and swinging the axe becomes easy.

I had a similar experience. Mine was sweet as pie then I removed his best girl and he got angry. I had to remove her because he was killing her. She had gaping slits on her sides and lost all her feathers under her wings. She got to the point of barely being able to move so I removed her and brought her back to health. Gave him away. She was laying daily until I removed her then I was lucky to get 2 eggs a wk outta her. Since I got rid of him, I have put her back with the flock. She took over the pecking order and no one gives her any crap anymore. She sure earned it.She is getting back on her laying schedule. Took about 2 months or more but hopefully everything is working out. She was also laying her eggs on the floor before I moved her. I built her a laying box close to the floor and put her a ramp to get into it, she is VERY overweight but how do you put a chicken on a diet? When I isolated her, I put another hen in the pen with her and that hen laid in the laying box. I guess she figured it out because she has not laid another egg on the ground. But, also, she knows which box belongs to her and she wont let anyone else use it. I think that is so cute of her.
