I’m sorry for the delay responding. I’ve had a lot going on the last few weeks. I am slowing whittling down the deep bedding of wood shavings inside the coop. I have poop trays under the chicken roosts which I clean daily. I also clean out the goose pen and pick up chicken poops on the coop floor daily. I plan to move the geese into their own completely separate pen ASAP, outside the chicken coop, where I’ll continue to use no more than about 2 inches of wood shavings with a light layer of hay on top. In the chicken coop I plan to keep 1-2 inches of wood shavings that I’ll clean daily. I have a big old barn within which my husband built the chicken coop and where the goose pen will also be built. The barn has cement flooring. I’ve put 1” thick rubber “cow matts” on top of the cement for the birds. I hope you’ve come up with a system that works for your birds.I'm sorry I missed this reply! Thanks for your feedback, hope your guy is better! May I ask what you do instead of deep litter method? It's probably hard for many of us to find what's right for our own flocks since everyone's situation is so different!
