Black Jack 57 or vinyl.

I used Black Jack 57, on the floor and 12 inches up the walls. It's a rubber roof coating. It dries like paint.

Cool! I'm definitely going to do this! Can I use this on wooden fence posts outdoors as well? My builder was supposed to use treated posts and I'm not convinced he did, and he was also supposed to come back and coat the bottom two feet of them with something like this and he didn't. I'd like to paint the tops, too, since we get so much rain. What do you think?

Hey BlackDog, Awesome idea. I know it's only been about 3 months. I was thinking about doing this. Have you had a chance to see how easy it is to clean? Looking back, do you think it would be easier with vinyl flooring (it maybe being more of a smoother/slick surface).

@BRAMOS My floor has been done for about 3 years, it holds up very good. I use a hard rake to mix my bedding when needed and I use a plastic snow shovel when I remove my bedding, about once a year. It does not show any signs of wear. I also have to scrape a few spots when I clean it out. I don't use any water inside my coop to clean. Here's a link to my article.

No, I don't think vinyl is easier, but there are a couple differences in using each one.

Black Jack: Should have 2 light coats applied and it takes about 7 - 14 days to cure after the 2nd coat. The 2nd coat can be done 24 hrs after the first coat. It's held up without any signs of wear for about 3 years, so it shouldn't have to be redone. I would use it again, before using vinyl on my floor! That said, I do have vinyl on my poop board that gets scooped every day. I have a couple small cuts from the scraper not being flat.

Vinyl: If you use a good heavy grade on the floor it should hold up well. You can put it down and start using your coop, no drying required. When installing the vinyl, I would recommend tacking 1 x 2's around the edge to hold it down, I wouldn't glue it down, in case it ever had to be replaced. If you have to scrape poop off, you could possibly cut the vinyl.

Definitely don't glue it down.
I didn't have to secure the edges, except at people and pop doors and on the ends where it went up the wall more than ~2", then just used a few dry wall screws with washers.

Poops don't really stick much, and most that do pop off pretty easy.
