Hi! So, I don't post much, but I read a lot! Recently we got some chicks (among ducklings and a pair of goslings). One of our silver laced wyandottes always falls onto one side when it gets relaxed or goes to sleep. Is this normal? None of the other chicks seem to do it. She'll be standing on your knee and start closing her eyes and then fall over. It's super adorable, but I don't want to be ignoring any warning signs. Aside from that, the chick has no problems, it eats and drinks and poops normally and is a normal size. What do you think?

I had one of my two-week olds sort of tip over this evening as she was getting up for a nap. I was really upset thinking she was ill until she demonstrated that she was eating and drinking and walking around as usual. I'm hoping it was a fluke, but I'd love to hear what others think.

We picked up our 3 Americauna girls when they were 3 weeks old from a farmer. One of the birds just laid in her cage. She was near the water and would put her beak in to take a drink. I was afraid she would drown! But by morning she was up and about with the other girls. I think she was just stressed out from the move. Hopefully your chick will perk up soon too!

I've had a few chicks do that. Usually it's the 2-4 weekers. The chicks huddle, and the 5+ week chicks perch.
2-4 weekers just seem to fall over where they are...I've noticed my cochin and RIR used to, and now my 3 week old silkie does that. Usually it's with her head propped against the feeder or stuffed toy.

Someone posted a really funny thread a while ago in Pics & Stories about her young pullets doing the same thing. Looked like she killed them all, but no! Just being scary little peeps.
