Hello
I have 3 Maran hens that are approx 5 mos old and have *just* started or are about to start laying.
The one that started laying first had a floppy comb first, now her sisters are beginng to follow suit.
Their eggs have been scratched looking (there have only been a few) until today when the egg was less scratched looking but paper thin.
They are still grazing and seem fairly normal (they have always been our calmest birds).
The Maran Hens eyes also have had much larger pupils than our Maran Roo. It seems like the inner Iris is dark brown instead of golden. They also have much paler combs than him...
We have not noticed any weird excrement.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Pics:
Copernica most likely just started laying & got floppy second:
Bright Eyes (hen) with Howl (roo) was our first layer and first to have floppy comb.
Esmerelda (hen) with Ozzy (roo) has most likely not started laying and seems to show early signs of floppiness:
Please let me know if you have any info to offer.
Thank you
