Two of my five 5mo pullets have grown their Big Girl combs & wattles.
As they got larger, both girls' combs started flopping over at the front.
Is this normal?

At first I thought they might be dehydrated - we've had some warm weather.
But I refill their water every day and the gallon-sized jar (old-fashioned glass jar with screw-on plastic bottom) is generally two-thirds to half-full when I do.
So a maximum 2 quarts of water consumed daily for 5 pullets - is that good?

They are eating and acting healthy and look great but - being new at this - I just had to worry & come here for the answer.

Nope - one is a Delaware, the other is a Black Star

So as flopped-over comb can be normal?

Yep I've been learning that breeds that have larger combs do this. The minorca especially do this as a trait, the combs are even so large they can cover an eye when over the side. If I remember right covering the eye is a DQ or at least mark down for show but very typical of hatchery birds.
Sounds like your girls are likely fine.

I have one like that, she appears to be a Buff Orp - RIR cross. I find the comb occasionally gets a litte dry at the back where it meets her head, and I have put vaseline on it once, but I may have been over-pampering her!

I guess I'll have to wait for a real crisis now
