My Coop
My Coop
Hello all,
Still new to BYC and haven't posted much. My wife and I are professional artists living in the mountains of western Maryland. We joke that we are only artists to support out gardening and homesteading habits, which isn't really a joke. So we thought the one key that was missing in our property was livestock and chickens were the best. Our budget is tight, so the coop is built of pallets and scrap lumber mostly. Major purchases are some thin ply for the walls, a handful of stable 2X4, and, of course, the wire. Lots and lots of 1/2 inch welded wire. It's still in progress, so I will do a coop page later, but until then, here is our photo album of the process. I hope my little foray can inspire others who are just getting started.

Nice video! Will share with a friend who is looking into an autodoor.
Wonders if you have the ezup parts I need.

What a fabulous build! Great use of recycled materials. Your little helper looked very intent.

The parts from an EZ-Up aren't important. I used them because as professional artists we have lots of them, from broken ones at shows. I will gather the broken bits after storms, etc. So when I needed a small bit of bar stock metal, to make a lever with a counter weight, I used what was on hand. So any bit of metal, etc can do it. You could make one entirely of wood.
