I am in NC and I have this Florence lady spinning in the ocean and coming right for me! Ayam Cemanis in the incubator. Although I am far enough inland to where it won't be a hurricane when it gets here but I am still worried about a power outage. This sucks! I do have a Japanese Bantam who went broody for the first time (as soon as she was old enough lay) I can take the eggs from under her and put some my important eggs under her if the power goes out but Flooding is an even bigger threat than a power outage and her nest might not be high enough... did I mention I hate Hurricanes? Yep I sure do.

Oh no! That stinks. I hope you and your chicks are safe in the storm! I know this is not helpful, but I have had power out for two weeks before, when a hurricane came through. I used to live a 45 minute drive inland. I hope you r power does not go out. This sounds like something that would happen to me. My thermostat kept sticking on hatch day last week. Its digital, but it kept getting hot and cold! Only 2 of my ayam cemani eggs hatched. I feel ya! Hugs

Yep, sure did. I might have backup generator ready in case of power outage but in case of flooding need to get them up high and out of the weather. Good Luck!

I'm near Greenville, SC, and we've got an eye on that old hag, too. :-o The General Dollar down the street is out of ev-er-y-thing, and there isn't a single room in a motel available anywhere, according to the locals. My entire church has been on their knees about this storm since Sunday, I will send some up for you, too! :love How close are you to the inland waterways?

Send the prayers to the coasts, my worst worry is losing a hatch... and if I lose power I might be cooking eggs over a grill... and if I lose power for a long time I might be eating raw eggs. The people near the coast will have it so much worse. I was just posting here to whine about the potential of losing a hatch because of a Hurricane that will be borderline Tropical Storm/Tropical depression if it even gets here. Rather than stress it I will just take the loss. And buy more eggs. In fact I should just give up on that hatch and send money to Americas Cajun Navy rather than spend money on a new hatch.
