FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Is anyone interested in Swedish Flower Hens? I have two pair that are a couple of months old, and some straight-run chicks I am selling.

I'm thinking of getting a few cream legbars is there a South Florida (or even further north) source for these? I haven't met one yet, are they very small birds like hamburgs or are they larger? they look cute on the pictures and I don't have blue egg layers yet.

I have some. Mine started laying about a month ago. I can hatch out some chicks for you if you'd like, or if you prefer hatching eggs I can do that too. They are not large birds by any means, on the small side but I'm not sure how much mine weigh exactly.

Oh cool!! Do they lay alot of eggs, and what size are the eggs. I am trying to decide whether to get a legbar roo and cross with leghorn or just go for purebred legbar. The advantage i see from the cross is that I am guessing the eggs will be larger and more of them, but the excess roos from hatches are pretty much worthless. If i just went pure legbar then the excess roos would be easier to deal with.. i'd love your thoughts on that. I guess i'm leaning towards pure legbar. I already have some crosses from DMrippy but they are only 1 month old and any roos i hatch are a problem. I already have one that i cant get rid of..

CL/CCL roosters are being given away weekly recently. They arent any more sought after then any other breed of rooster. Atleast with CL/CCL you know the roos at hatch, not wasting time and feed on them to grow out.

what do you do with the males at hatch? I think these things are more difficult in the far South of Florida than broward on up but maybe there is someone who would like them... I would give my roos away gladly (except the marans)..

Actually you can make straight combed sexable Olive Eggers with Legbar roos. So, if you are into projects they are useful to have.

They are ok layers, mine lay medium sized eggs, but they haven't been laying that long. They are powder blue, no hint of green at all. Honestly in South Florida I wouldn't risk giving roos away for free. I cull mine or grow them to processing size. So far I've only had three Legbar roos and I'm using all three, one is with my laying flock, and the other two are with my two groups of Legbar girls.
