FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I'm going to have to rehome one of my roos (possible two more, depending on what hubby and I decide). He's a gorgeous red color, barnyard mix and is sweet as can be. He sits in my lap and eats and then goes to sleep. Hate to get rid of him but we have an over abundance of roos, and he's low man on the totem pole. He is now about 4 months old. Here's his pic, hope someone can find a good home for him!! (The other two would be a blue bantam cochin, and a black bantam cochin if anyone is interested.)
I know someone looking for a black bantam Cochin, smooth feathered, to breed to their frizzle hen. Can you post pics of him. I will pass it on to her. It is for her daughters 4h project.

Gorgeous pics!Where did you get your blue laced red wyndotte?Did you order from a hatchery? I will be looking for some silver gold and blue laced soon for someone I know. They have also requested seabrites and aracaunas(not easter eggers) and black copper marans.I'm trying to get the list all together so hopefully we can get chicks which are all the same age.

Wyandottes are on my wish list and I heard out this breeder on BYC a while back. http://www.paulspoultry.com/
Seems like the real deal and show quality. But I emailed them with no response so hmmmm. We have enough for now anyway so it's better I don't know what varieties they have available ;)

My Marans aren't laying yet. How dark are their eggs? Which feed do you get? I do buy stuff from Robbie's or O.K. Feed, but they seem a little pricey. I actually drove down to Sunset Feed in Kendall to buy my PDZ and dried meal worms.

I had a very hard time finding any good breeders in Miami Dade. All of the local farms selling chickens didn't really impress me & the birds didn't appear healthy. When I would ask about certain breeds, they'd look at me with a blank stare. My wife really wanted a buff Orpington, but I was never able to find any down here & didn't want to mail order chickens. I'm glad we came across Mark & purchased our small flock from him.

I have 16 pullets from a Dec 21 hatch from Mark, and i am just collecting a few eggs, (well actually most of them are from him not quite all) i don't know which pullets are laying them but it is quite early. I have not been able to get the chicks/eggs i want in south dade either, breed does not seem important around here. I always either end up with eggs in the mail or going up to loxahatchee/west palm area. you could contact overoberyl on the forurm, i am pretty sure she has lavender orpingtons and she is in west palm. My feed comes from Robbies on Krome and I have been getting meal worms from unclejimswormfarm online, i started a project to raise the meal worms but it is not really going all that well, i keep forgetting they are there and not changing out their potatoes enough.. LOL!!

Apparently the hubby has decided hes attatched to our black bantam cochin rooster (and the blue, though I've convinced him one or the other has to go I think). He's wanting to keep the black for breeding, and get rid of the red one and possibly the blue bantam cochin. Sorry!

Day 21 and we have one chick this morning! (8:30 am)
Another egg (bottom left) has cut his ring around but has done nothing more since about 12am. Should I assist after 12 hours have passed?

awwww..... that would be a wheaten marans?

Red (the roo) has found a new home (along with the other 7 packing peanuts we were sent) not too far from me, and we're just left with the hens we ordered. :)

update:
It's 2 pm on day 21 and the zipped egg is still moving but hasn't fully hatched yet (commence nail biting).
However,
One egg almost literally exploded with no pipping or zipping that we could see to reveal chick # 2! Yup a whole other egg that showed no evidence of anything happening just decided to bust onto the scene beating out the partially hatched one for second. I didn't know they could do that.

You can still see the zipped egg over there on the left.
