Are you going to the Lake City show? If so, are you bringing ( or could you ) Showgirls for sale?
I was interested in adding silkies back into the flock. I used to think the naked necks were so weird now I think they are interesting. I would like a buff and a black silkie. Does the term showgirl only apply to the white?

I don't show my flock. It all started with my sons 4h project and I feel in love with chickens. He will show a bird or two with his group but we raise for eggs and pets.

Do you have hatching eggs?

The Florida Department of Agriculture will have an inspector present to test those birds with no certification. Birds needing to be tested will be received in the showroom on Friday from 5:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M. for testing and Saturday morning from 7:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. as needed.

thanks, i wasn't sure if that covered the requirement or not... i am debating bringing a couple of birds to that show.. not sure yet.

I posted this in the Wheaten thread, but I thought I'd share this with my fellow Floridians.

I'm really pleased with the color I'm getting out of my selective breeding. Even though laying is slow this time of year, some of my chicks that I hatched out in May are laying now. I am happy with the results! These new Wheaten Marans hens are from a Bev Davis dam and sired by a Cottage Hill.

Here is what I'm getting:

The egg on the far right is from one of my Red Stars. I only included it for a bit of color comparison.

Here's the new layers as they looked back in May with their adopted mom: (as always - more males than females on that hatch)

chocolate eggs anyone?

Ali Meats in Orlando will process your live chickens, turkeys, guniea hens, ducks and rabbits. They are also getting ready to do live goats as well.
They are located at 7260 Gardner Street, Winter Park. Between highway 50 and colonial drive. They are open every day except Sunday. The phone number is 407-948-7614. Chicken processing is 4 dollars per chicken and $10 dollars for large turkeys. Very clean and professional. You can buy same live animals there to have processed if you don't have your own animals. Mirza, the owner, is also looking to buy healthy animals for resale.
