FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

We're at 34○F here in Hernando County. The worst part is the "feels like", which is 24○F...I thought we lived in Florida because we don't like the cold...ugh....

Oh and hello Bairdfamily! I worked for FEMA at your convention center when tropical storm Debbie rolled through. What an absolute beautiful county, I just love your beaches!

I'm looking out my front door, now that it is getting daylight. I can see hubby's flag flapping in the wind in front of his workshop. It looks cold out there - I don't want to open the front door! Do you think the chickens would mind if I leave them in their coops until spring (or Friday when it's supposed to be in the 80s)?

Oh well, here I go, out to face the freezing Florida day ... I can do this!

YOU CAN DO IT!! I just took the trash out and checked on the plants ( all the animals stayed inside last night)...and yes it is as cold as it looks!!

now im warming up !!

I did it and made it back inside alive, although flip-flops probably weren't my best shoe choice. Everybody looks good, although the girls had awfully cold toes when I picked them up. I cuddled as many as would let me and warmed up their toes a bit. Now I'm inside with cold toes!

YEAH, I am sure not used to this cold I made another run outside to uncover the plants and came back in to a house of roaming chicks!! Learned a valuable lesson. .chicks can run FAST & Keep three year old son and chickens separated when unattended!! Now to get the girls back to the pin!!

OH NO here she come to put us up " RUN"

"I didn't let them out Mommy I Promise " :)

We just moved last year from IL to Central Florida. My hometown is experiencing -20 weather plus a huge blizzard that shut down most of the town. I'm SO glad I moved to Florida, ha. I'll take the couple days of colder weather over that!!!!

Can I get some suggestions on what to use to build an enclosed run? We have a huge secure pen built for my ducks to bed down in at night, and we are wanting to build a run for them to have during the day. It has to be enclosed per FWC. We are going to use bird netting to cover the top....but I'm trying to cut down on cost as we spent a lot of money making sure their nighttime pen was predator proof. We have dogs that stay out during the day so I am not worried about being so stickler with the run since the dogs will protect them.....I want it to be 6 or 7 foot tall. Any cheap ideas besides chicken wire? I really hate chicken wire....
