Hi y'all Bryceville, Fl here !
Hi Neighbor @bettylynn26 I'm also in Bryceville!!Hi y'all Bryceville, Fl here !
Do any of you Floridians use sand as litter for your coop? My coop is small… 4x4 feet and about 4' high… I'm moving my chicks out of the house/brooder and into the coop in a few days… I was thinking about buying sand from ACE and going with that. Any thoughts?
Florida City, scary scary scary. What about contacting them as a feed stores that are close to you. Lots of people here in Okeechobee buy fresh eggs from our feed stores.also Publix has contacts for the food bank in our area. They might be able to find one that is much safer to go to.
Have you thought about freezing them for when the girls stop laying later in the year? Very easy to do too.Just recently my daughter moved out and my co-workers have stopped eating so many eggs... I am overwhelmed. I was always feeding them to the dogs but lately i have upped their rations to 2 per day.
last night in desperation i opened the refrigerator and it was stuffed with eggs. I spent 20 minutes cracking as many as I could fit into a giant saucepan and scrambled them so i can give the dogs cooked eggs (raw eggs are only ok for dogs in small quantities because there is a protein in them that dogs are sensitive to. When cooked this protein becomes denatured.) ... Please remind me NEVER to scramble so many eggs at one time.. stirring the pot so they didn't stick to the bottom was a nightmare and i bent my spatual LOL!!!!
I have tried several times to get in touch with the local soup kitchen and then never respond... you would think they would want the eggs. I haven't just gone down there because it is in a scary part of Florida City.
