Your coop and run look great and I'm sure you have very happy birds. I see you have wire over their run. I have all of my pens covered to protect my birds from aerial predators.

I plan on trip too...depends on my sons mood that morning, as I will also be going to the poultry show that evening. But if I do go...I will be on lookout for chick supplies, and or herb seedlings....If I don't make it this month, will be next month for sure!!

I would just put out layers feed if you want eggs, some say its not preferred but many feed the roo what the hen gets with no problem. other than that they look like they have an awesome set up! Plenty of room to run and scratch, a nice coop, they will also scratch and eat bugs and seedlings they find. I would, imo, cover the top with a smaller wire though. It could just be the angle but it looks like raccoons and other predators could get in there and make easy prey of your chickens

The one today was around 3 to 4 feet. It was in a hole against my house. I threw a couple mothballs in the area. I have Hawks that take care of most nasties and I don't kill these snakes but I don't want them in my yard. I have woods 20ft behind my yard that they are welcome to live in
although I agree with keeping the snakes for protecting your yard from poisonous snakes. You can buy a bunch of cheap cayenne pepper and sprinkle a barrier around where you don't want them. That should keep them out of your yard

I've been reading up on natural ways and so far sulphur powder mixed with cinnamon and clove oil seems to be one of the best and safest. I haven't seen my slithery friend today but will consider a barrier powder. He's welcome to live in the woods 20 ft from my house...lots of goodies out there for it

You can buy a cattle sulfur block pretty cheap and break off chunks of it. Scatter the chunks where you need them.
