FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Hi I am fairly new to the forum and not sure if this is where I should post this question, so any information would help.

I am looking to rehome 2 roosters. They are still pretty young. I am in volusia county and not familiar of any place that may take them. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You could always take them and sell them. At least it would help pay for the feed.

Hi! I am also in Volusia County with a rooster to rehome. He is just to noisy for me.

I am going over on Saturday May 20th. I have some birds I need to re-home. It's probably nearly a 2 hour drive for me one way. Every time I go over I sell my birds rather quickly. At least it helps with the feed bill.

I am new to raising chickens, and am in the process of designing a coop & run. We have 11 chicks in the brooder for a couple of more weeks, but they are growing fast and will need a good home sooner than later! So, I am thinking of building an open coop (3 walls...back and sides, leaving the front open to the run). If you have one, or used one in the past, how has it worked for you? I have looked over almost all of the coop designs and just can't seem to stop thinking about the open coop design.

Here is what I am thinking...it's FL, so it get HOT in summer, and the winters are mild. The open font will provide more than enough ventilation, and the coop will be easier to access for cleaning purposes. And, I could always build a front wall with pop-door if I see that the open concept isn't working out.

Any thoughts?

My coop is totally open, with fans. During the winter, when it drops to 50, or less, it usually rains to usher in the cold. I staple tarps to the outside of the coop section, which works just fine.

We originally built these coops out of stuff we had. Recently we put new metal siding on because the other material we used was deteriorating. We are slowly putting new metal roofs and siding on our coops.

Only the bottom half of this coops wood was deteriorating.

cmom...thanks for the pictures! I am glad to see that the open concept work well for y'all. I think i can get my hands on a 10'x10' chain-link dog kennel, and that might be my starting point. BYC is great...thanks again!
