FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

My BR's are just so sweet. My Lucy is sweet but very skittish and my RIR is kind of a B... no , a real B, she doesn't like to be touched, or held. I raised her from 2 weeks?
I feel ya, my two bard rocks have zip- zero personality. They act like I beat them daily and dip them in hot wax.... Yet, they have no problem snatching goodies out of my hand. No more bard rocks here unless they are in a recipe...lol

I have a question for you Floridians that I apologize for in advance, if it's been beaten to death over the head, but do your hens slow in production during any point of the year, since there isn't such a drastic loss of daylight as there is in say, Washington state? Sunrise here is 7 am and by 5:30 it is already almost pitch black here.

Thank you in advance. We have been h

We have loss of daylight hours and drop in egg production just like everyone else, not to mention molt. I have some birds under a year old that are laying eggs and some arnt. The older hens have completely shut down and some are in molt. Some started molt back in late August. It's nature's way of giving our birds rest and recooperation lol.

That makes sense. I should have just checked the sunrise and sunset times lol. We're sunrise at 7 am and sunset 4:30, you guys are sunrise 6 am and sunset 5:30 which is still less than the 14 hours hens need.

I'm over here in our dark, foggy and rainy WA, dreaming of Florida, painting a picture in my head of Florida always having sun and daytime and more daytime and more sun and never any less sun than what's in my head. Lol

LOL. We've had nothing but rain all summer long. We had record 6 inches of rain two days in a row back in July. The humidity is very high also. It's been off and on rains last month and again this month. We're still running our a/c.
What few sunny days we've had, it was a steam bath. Spend 10 minutes outside and you're wringing wet with sweat.
I had all the fans running in the chicken pens during the day, then the fans running inside the coops at night. I have the fans blowing air out a vent, indirect airflow comes in through the other vents so there's no direct airflow blowing on the chickens.

I'll screenshot this detailed description of the summer you've had, for the next Washingtonian that mentions moving to Florida away from Our rain.
