I was sure I saw somewhere that Cape Coral allows chickens........dang...I will have to look that up.

Those silkies of yours are simply stunning, and the coop was likewise as beautiful. Its a shame you have been having to deal with your recent neighbors/permitting problems.

I plan on raising worms (meal and perhaps earthworms) myself someday soon. I also plan on having a large Koi fish pond, and they love those things too.

They changed the ordinances in 2007 to prohibit the keeping of poultry. No one can tell me why. Not even folks at City Hall. My guess is it had to do something with the then fear of "bird" flu.

Hello,

I'm a newbie from Lakeland, FL. My son is an animal lover, so he is SUPER excited about getting his chicks in July.

We ordered from mypetchicken.com, and will be receiving one each of these breeds of chicks on July 18th:

-Delaware
-Plymouth Rock
-Speckled Sussex
-Australorp
-Easter Egger
-Cochin (white)

My son has been researching the breeds, and I have been researching their care.

Any info on where to find cheap coops, or on how chicken care differs in the state of FL would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks!
