I am going to throw up just writing this... A neighbor came over earlier to check out the coop and as we approached it, a hawk had one through the gap in the wire! She didn't make it; I sang her to sleep and I cry as I write this. I am devastated!!!
The neighbor helped me reinforce the coop and her and her boyfriend gave me multiple suggestions for modifications. We are gonna be predator proof!

Thank you all- I just had another fifteen minute cry sesh over all this. Is this normal!? I need paxil since I lost my pet chicken, doctor. I have post traumatic stress disorder and will freak out every time I see a hawk!? I have a " blog" on here w my coop pics posted. I can't figure out how to link on iPhone, will do tomorrow. Neighbors have 4 RIRs and had good suggestions. Foam in small roof gaps and mor small wire w/ a badass staple gun! Must buy that!!

That looks like the big great hawk that got our babies last summer. After loosing several DH went hunting. Oops! not supposed to do that. Granddaughter 5 actually found a head with no body
