Hmm, I'll have to check, it's suppose to give you a confirmation. I got Sugar Sand Farm's info, but not yours FLChickens. Can you submit again. I'm sorry. Still working out the bugs.
Morning all, today is day one of prepping the holding cages so we can lock everyone inside by the end of the week. We just finished a new flight pen this weekend for the quail and turned them loose. Bet they won't enjoy being gathered back up. LoL
Does everyone name all their birdies? I can't sit myself down to try & figure it out.... but I think I like these names for mine, so far....
Black Coppers- Elvira, Wednesday, & I can't figure out what to name the 3rd one....
Easter Eggers- Murray (came named) & Watermelon (2-year-old)
Silkies (2-year-old)- Tiny, Teddy, & I like the idea of naming one Tribble... but we have two more we have to figure out at some point. I can't have Roosters, but I want to name one Roo Paul.
Heather you can still name a hen Roo Paul as the original wants to be a hen.
We had 3 without names until the 3rd granddaughter arrived to name them. Favorite name is a dominque who keeps escaping from pen.....................plokadini from ploka dot and houdini. Love young imaginations.
All of our girls have decided to take a vacation, 1 egg on Fri, 4 on Sat and again 1 yesterday. Wobble, Shimmer and Marmalade haven't started laying yet. Sure hate the idea of buying eggs. Is it the heat or just that they are 14 months old and taking a break?

Update your loving rooster loves the land he can roam free on. He has 5 girlfriends that he took from big red. When you left he went roaming all over but I had to get the kids to go get him from outback cause he wanted to explore the whole 10 acres.I went out to check on him and he is sleeping with 5 of the girls.Thank You!!! The chickens love when when I mow my yard
HAHA.. I'm glad he was able to steal a few girlies of his own. I can't wait to see how he continues to grow and develop. I'll definitely come visit when he grows out

I'm sure the heat has a LOT to do with it.. My guess is you should get an egg any time from Wobble. I have 2 of the 5 of her hatch mates laying with others showing signs. Is she squatting or anything for you? I bet the move stressed her a bit as well and I know that can delay laying. I hope you get more eggs soon!
Last year we had egg production drop thanks to the heat. This year not so much, but they free range all day now, and we have the pools and pans of water for the ducks and geese that the hens are using too. Not sure what has made the difference for sure, but I am guessing the extra water they are standing in is keeping them cooler.
Hubby was excited, he got his first quail egg this weekend from his covy og courtnix quail. The Bob Whites have more growing to do yet. Sorted the newest hatchlings this weekend, only keeping a handful out of all of them. All the rest will be going to Nava's for the swap with us.
Our baby bunnies are fully weaned from mom, and about to leave also. A local pet store wants them, and we know the owners and how well they care for the animals so it is a good choice. We have another doe expecting, so she will come inside this week while we wait for her to deliver.
Anyone adding anything fun to your flocks this fall? Waiting for the temps to drop so we can get the final Sebastopol's shipped in. Also waiting for 2 pairs of wood ducks, 1 pair of Mandarins, plus an extra female. Oh and a couple of pairs of peafowl coming too (of course we have to build their enclosure yet).
Shellie pretty soon you will have your entire as a flight cage................have fun with all those babies.
Gonna be so quiet around here, DIL comes for my granddaughters tomorrow, she will stay a couple of days depending upon Irene. So much quieter now that Lucie gone, can't imagine how peaceful, clean and neat my house will be. Miss them already. Chickens will probably be happy................one is always being carried around, they need a break.
