Ok, I am planning to get started on our next coop in a few weeks... So maybe an early Christmas present to myself! hehe... How much are you thinking about selling them for?

Asked him tonight, he says it depends on how old you want them when you get them. Day olds, or older juveniles (2.50-5.00 each). He will be keeping some of the Marans and breeding towards SOP for a flock of his own. I get a few of his OE chicks and he hopes to sell the rest to fund his new coop for his flock.

Sounds good. I'm thinking maybe the hatch towards the end of November? Not sure it'll depend on us getting our other coop up & going soon. But I talked to my hubby & he is up for getting some of them when the time comes!

How's the hatching going? ? ?

Hey Lisa! I have 100+ eggs going into lockdown Tuesday. I am planning on keeping
30 or 40 and culling down from there. I am a little cautious about chicks with the weather
cooling off, as I have been spoiled by the summer hatches only needing lights at night
for a couple of weeks in my outside brooders. I like hatching chicks now though.
They seem to feather out faster and get larger, quicker...no heat stress. They will
come into lay early when the days are longer and lay through the summer when
some of the previous years Spring hatched slow down or quit laying.

Hello fellow Floridians, I live in Fort Lauderdale with very close neighbors and some bratty chickens who insist on yelling as loud as possible ONLY in the wee hours of the morning, to put it lightly, the neighbors are not pleased. Before somebody decides to start calling animal control I am hoping that somebody nearby will be willing to take three chickens, one Rhode Island Red one Buff Orpington and one Barred Plymouth Rock, two are laying and one will be laying soon. They come as a group but besides their hatred of anybody sleeping in, they are incredibly sweet and I love them to death which is why I'd rather have somebody take them close by so I can visit and it's not animal control. I would also like to start a thread, but which section should I post it under?

Thank you so much,
Charlie Pie

If there are no laws against having the chickens I say keep them. If you do truly need to rehome post in the buy/sell area under the third thread for oldest chickens. Craig's list is also a good local option. Sorry you are having to think about rehoming.

x2 about the local laws....a loud chicken can't be much louder than a Large dog, so if you are "allowed" to keep them I would go for it....FYI on C/List.....they may end up in some one's kitchen...so be very careful if you want them to live a long happy life

I think vultures are so ugly they're cute! After we got over the trauma of the attempted attack, we joked that maybe it saw our Turken and fell in love. The incident just showed us we can never too careful...I mean, she was within our sight, and we'd just turned our backs for a moment.
