haha :) I did that too, and one lesson I learned....BUILD THE COOP FIRST! And just so you know, I started all this less than 2 months ago lol! One smart thing you did, you have 2 little bitty ones. I had 8 that were between 4-8 weeks old, which meant they needed to be OUTSIDE so yeah, we were busting it. I gotta show you my new coop, just finished this week!!!!!!

Hi Stephanie, I guess I should have built the coop first but, I kinda had to get the chicks because the husband wanted no part of it. Now that we have them, he is somewhat considering helping me build one. I am leaning towards PVC and a wooden nesting box/bad weather box at one end. I'd love to see yours. We are on about 1/3 of a acre so we don't have much room.
I have a "mutt" not sure what she is and 2 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes. The last one is a Mille Fleur Bantam Cochin.

Honestly that is why i got the chickies first as well. That and i am a teensy impatient.but i knew that hubs would totally crack once he saw how cute they are. Our first "pen" which was realky mostly a run lacked a good rof and good shade :i didnt realize how exposed to the elemntz it was until I lost 2 of my silky checks and 1 turkey in roaster to that cold snap we had a couple weeks ago. I was devastated. I felt like the worst chicken owner in the world. My husband felt really bad as well. He is the 1 who built the new coop. I have since learned the joys of being prepared by having plenty of food and water in the cage instead of having to feed and water them twice a day. I am trying to get ready for a nother set of birds because I really want to get a breeding duo of bantam cochins abd maybe even hatch some eggs thus year :)

Hey there,
Welcome!
I am in St. Pete I got my guys and don't have a coop yet either. Mine are all young like yours. I have a huge 2 car detached garage and am planning on making an inside coop in there with an outside run. And I am setting eggs to incubate on Friday , might as well jump in with both feet right!

I started out without a coop as well, but I had surprise chickens left on the carport. Your plan sounds great. You should have happy chickens.

chicknadventure, I want to see pictures. Dig out that camera!

Your house sounds like more of a zoo than mine ! If I only had more property....Keep me updated on your coop ! Good luck with the eggs !
