Hello Floridians,

I have a small family flock of 7 ( 1 rooster, 6 hens) I live just outside of Gainesville. I bought my house about one year ago and chickens have become my gateway drug to my dream of a micro farm! So, hello and sign me up to all the sunshine state craziness!

Also if you have time please check my post about my bantam with a toe deformity (impacted toenail?). It is in the injury/disease area and I would love some help.

My first wheaten maran hatched today

under my broody austrolorp.She has been a great sitter and proving so far to be a great mom!The second egg has pipped,fingers crossed

for the other 9.Will keep you posted and send pics when all the hatching is done! So excited!

Anyone in the area want a free leghorn cockerel? Hes a month old and I already caught him trying crow

I also have a birchen Cochin bantam cockerel, 2 months old and a Black Copper Marans cockere, same age. The black copper is missing one claw on each of his feet. I don't know if that is genetics or malformation, so I am not keeping him for breeding. The Cochin appears to be developing nice coloring, body and wing type, no word on his tail yet would like $5 ea but might give the bcm away.

And, I have one lonely wheaten Marans chick, 2 weeks old, from eggs I bought off here. $5
