They did come from Good Shepherd birds. ....stanI think his stock originally came from the Good Shepherd line.
Thanks for the advice, Stan. They should be just about ready to lay. The guy who sold them to me brought me out about 8 birds and said that they were all about the same age and he had collected a few eggs from them, but wasn't quite sure which ones had laid them. I picked my three out of that bunch. I have been letting them free range and have given them some table scraps too.Hey Kwol,
Glad you quit trolling and started posting!! How old are your birds, are they young and never laid, or older hens coming out of molt? Reason I ask is because if they are young, you don't want to give them layer's mash till they start to lay, or are very close. There is so much calcium in layer's mash that it can cause problems in young pullets when they do start to lay. They are better on a higher protien grower feed till they need that calcium to produce egg shells. Glad you are posting! .......stan
