FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Hello!

I'm a newby here from south Florida; specifically Okeechobee, Florida.
I have a tiny, much loved flock of buff orpington hens, a mutt, bantam rooster and a one of their offspring; with a few more in the incubator. In the future I hope to add some bantam salmon faverolles. Nice to meet you all!

Welcome, Cathy!

This heat wave has the flies blooming! Anyone have any experience with beneficial fly predators, because I'm gearing up with all my gun hollsters loaded this summer.

I use these to get rid of adult flies:

And these monthly to prevent new flies:

Traps alone will not prevent new flies, and fly predators used in isolation will not get rid of existing adult flies which can live for 30 days or more. Used together I have found this system to be very effective, but you have to stay on top of it or they take over!

Thank you! I'm familiar with the traps. But wanted to try the predators as well. We have a manure managment schedule that we stick to. We compost for our gardens and give freely to close neighbors. Reguardless, we get overwhelmed with the flies. The animals hate them as much, if not worse, as we do. This is the year that we will beat them down!! I pledge, and so it will be done! ;)

Anyone in Florida with cream legbar chicks or hatching eggs. I am incubating some right now on day 11 with 3/14 viable. Knowing my luck if any hatch they'll be Roos! Just trying to anticipate my next plan!
There are a couple sellers on ebay that have CL eggs and located in FL. I ordered mine from seller elen18 in Bonifay, FL. Out of 8 eggs, 4 hatched-1 CL roo, 2 CL pullet, and 1 yellow chick. When I questioned seller she said it was a pumpkin hulsey game fowl, must have got in there by mistake.

Those do not look like pure CL to me...
