FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I've already got Rosa palustris established inside the run, not sure if they will demolish the bush or not. If they can resist eating the plant they will be rewarded with lots of little rose hips. The other chickens I had loved them but the rose was in the front yard so I don't know if they like to eat the plant too.

You know, that is actually where I first saw them- mille fleur d'uccles. Love at first sight, very attractive little birds. Unfortunately the guy vending them was not chicken savvy and neither was I so I left not even knowing what they were called. Couldn't house them at the time anyway and it was a pair for sale which I can't do in my area- no roos allowed :(Eventually figured out what they were (via this forum) and now I have space and accomodations ready, just can't seem to find the birds again. Perhaps when it warms up a little there will be more activity at the flea market again- still a few more overnight freezes scheduled this weekend even. I'm going to try to get down to the Micanopy swap this weekend as well. Thanks everyone again for the information and contacts. Some day I will find them I am sure with all the great help around here, I can wait until then.A question- anyone else plant their coops, for a more "natural" looking habitat? My previous set up was planted- had some azaleas, camellias, a couple species of gingers and nandina before I tore it out (horribly invasive IME) that the hens left alone. Any other suggestions? Or is that weird to try to keep a naturalistic chicken enclosure? Thought I would continue to dress up the coop and run while I search for birds.

There are some MF D'Uccle hatching eggs posted on BST. Also, I've purchased D'Uccles from Ideal Poultry before and have been very pleased with the quality. They are not necessarily show quality, but I would say better than average for a hatchery. I actually have a group growing out right now but not enough pullets to be able to sell some. Now if you are interested in white D'Uccles, you can have ALL of those, I've got a bunch!

Whats the latest news on that sink hole? I know there are a couple of BYC'ers in/near Seffner. We aren't getting much on it down here, other than a couple of tag lines. Sounds scary!

I might be able to get some actually, a member here that works in my city very graciously offered to hatch some for me. I'm very excited!

Seems like another chicken laid her first egg! The one on the left I believe is my Barred Rock's first egg. It was laid a couple hours before the darker one, and she was the chicken so interested while my New Hampshire was laying the other day.
Two down, now my RIR's turn for her first.

That is great. I have five out of five laying now. I can't wait until my next four start laying. I am hoping my EE girls will give me some pretty eggs.
