FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Quote: I think the golf balls help. Very rarely have I had the birds lay outside of their nest boxes.
Milk crates make a good nesting box but work better if you add a lip on the front to hold the hay or chips in.
I agree. I have used milk crates in the past. I have put a piece of wood screwed on to hold the hay in but now I just set the milk crates upright whenever I use them and the birds will get in them and lay. Plastic wash tubs work well too. You can use most anything. I have seen people use old dresser drawers.

DeLand (between Daytona and Orlando). If there is anyone in the DeLand/Central Florida area interested in sharing chicken-raising tips with me (we're getting our first chickens next week!), please message me. Also looking for coop-building materials for sale, not at hardware store or farm store, just from individual sellers so it's cheaper. :) Thanks!
Try dumpster diving for wood scraps to build your coop.Construction dumpsters are filled to the brim with scarps that usually go to the landfill. You just have to de-nial them before use.

It may be a bit of a ride but I have a lot of used metal siding and roofing. I am in Live Oak, FL here is a cart I built for my grandkids COLLEGE FUND STORE useing it.
