Ever since I went a got three more hens..None of the hens are giving me eggs. I used to get two eggs from my original two hens 

It may be that they just need time to adjust to their new flock members. May also be the fact that our days are getting shorter and they are done laying for the year. I have 50+ hens and the only ones still laying are my 6 Easter Eggers.

Now that got my attention. If a light is added to the coop to come on a couple of hours before daylight (sunrise), wouldn't that keep them laying longer? Is this still possible to do after they have gone off laying, meaning can you bring them back to a more normal laying schedule?

OR is it better to allow nature to takes its course and just deal with fewer eggs?

Hey Deb the chickids are doing fine we have named them.
The white one is cue ball, the three golden laced are Moe, Larry and Curley, the black headed one is Elvis and the buff one is Culleen.
They are a little weird about going into the coop at night I think they want to come into the house. LoL
Tonight when I went to tuck them in they jumped on my shoulders, back and arms and cried don't leave us here take us with you.
Not wanting to be their perch all night I finally got them into the coop but it was a struggle, I'm sure anyone watching would of thought it was a re enactment of the Birds.
Is this normal behavior for chickens? LoL
Maybe I should put a TV in the coop.

I had a Moe, Larry and Curly. When my chicks were young I would feed them in their coop in the evening and they would all go in because they knew it was feeding time. Now that their older I still feed them in their coop but not necessarily in the evening and they go in when it starts to get dark. All of my birds have night lights in their coops.

. Yes, I would expect odd behavior from these six, because they never made it into a regular coop. I would make it seem like it was getting dark by turning off the lights one by one until just the TV was on. Each time I turned off a light, they would scream bloody murder, so I would wait until they were quiet and then turn off the next light and so on. I'm usually up quite late either on the computer or laying in bed watching TV. If they couldn't see movement when I was laying down, they'd get all anxious and start screaming again. So, I would slide down in bed so they could at least see my feet and I would wiggle my feet and they would quiet down. If they only saw my feet with no movement, I guess they thought I was dead, so I really had to wiggle my feet to quiet them.

I am so glad they are with you now, so they can start a routine to become "normal" chickens. I must say, though, if I went to sleep at 4:00am, they wouldn't wake me up until 10am or so

And so another great mystery is solved!
Using my Sherlock Holms reasoning and my Dion Warwick physic powers I suspected somthing like that. LoL
These chickens have been programmed by watching TV commercials and are suffering from repressed feelings of anger because they want to eat at McDonald's, **** that clown for brain washing these chickens!

I have days like this when I try and get my 10 week old chicks and guineas into the actual coop and not the run area. Birds flying out while I am trying to put another one in, flying in my face, perching on my arms and shoulders begging....NOOOOO! My arms look like I have been wrestling lions with all of the scratches. The guineas are the worst.
