FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Sold all of my birds I took to sell and met some BYC members that came to the swap. We had a beautiful day with a lot of buyers and sellers.

I’ve heard of pullets delaying starting to lay this time of year because of shorter days or cold weather. Being that we are in Florida have any of your notices this to not hold as true here? Since our days aren’t as short as up north and it doesn’t even get “cold” at least in central Florida where I’m at.

Girls are a mixed flock and are 20 weeks, 4 of the girls 3 EEs and 1 buttercup combs and waddles have turned red and started growing like crazy and I’m wondering if they will be laying soon or if I should just assume no eggs till March/April?

They will probably start laying in around a month. I have some young ones that I expect to start laying in a couple of months (around 6 months old). I hatched late this year.

Hi I am in Orange county FL
More specifically 32812 zip
my home is zoned residential. We have a good size back yard to accommodate a coop and run.
hopefully to house 2-3 hens.

I am having a hard time finding the laws for orange county fl laws for raising chickens in residential homes.

does anyone have any information?

Chapter 38 zoning - Backyard Chicken Ordinance was amended on Dec 15, 2016 and became effective 1 Feb 2017.
It's a PDF and I dont know how to copy and paste it. It's almost similar to Jacksonville's chicken ordinance with a few important exceptions. You can always call your zoning department and find out.
