Did you know we have OE, EE, Ameraucana and newly hatched Marans

There is a Space Coast swap in the plans, and we hope to make it a monthly event during the cooler weather. I just need to get off my rear this weekend and finish up getting it organized.

You guys are all awesome & I'm flippin excited for the Space Coast swap / meet. I can't believe there are so many chickeny people here. On second thought... I can't believe there aren't more, chickens are awesome!

On a side note, I don't really like having my chickens around my veggie garden. Just makes me nervous that it might ruin my hard work. My corn is almost harvestable & I was wondering if anyone has had issues with ants & what you did about it. They are crawling all over my corn & I really think it would suck if the ants, not me, got to eat those sweet ears coming in. I dusted the crap out of them with diatomaceous earth this morning. I've been hitting them with Neem Oil every 7-10 days & I fertilize weekly with a 10-15-10 & then the next week a fish emulsion (on rotation.)

THANKS!

PS- got more seeds (total addict) so my fall garden is now bound to have peas, colorful carrots, cilantro & beets. MMMM omg I love beets!

Oohh carrots, thanks for the reminder. Need to plant carrots for the bunnies.

I have a cage maker lined up to set up at the swap this fall. He is very reasonable, we use a couple for quail and isolation here. Going to talk with feed manufactures about coupons and such too.

My coop maker would probably love to join in on the swap fun. He no longer uses chicken wire on any coops- thanks to my more wildlife friendly neighborhood! AH! He lives in a more urban/suburban area and never had issues with his similar coop. He also sells reasonably priced plans for building an attractive coop.

The thing I love most about the coop is that it's very ventilated & at the same time weather-friendly as far as rain, etc... goes- FL friendly!

On days like today I just have to keep telling myself "we get to swim at Christmas, we get to swim at Christmas"! Man it's hot out there today, just came in from after rounds dumping and refilling water for everyone.
