FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

LisaAnnW - "That egg is going to taste incredible! No more store bought." It was amazing. We had breakfast for dinner. I made that on by itself and I made 2 from the store. After eatting my girls...I couldn't even finish the store eggs...I always thought people were exagerating about the difference, but wow Pandora's egg was sooo much better!

Oh Lisa sending you eggs & not sharing with the rest of us? Shame on you Lisa!

Pretty little pulley egg, if you ask me. Enjoy it!

In other news, uninteresting article on backyard chickens in the Florida Today today. Front page, even.

The farm it highlights, Funky Chicken Farms, may or may not have sold my neighbor some 3 or so month old chickens who infected the rest of her flock with Coryza. Out of the 3 3-month olds she bought, one wouldn't stop wheezing, so she "brought it to the farm" one died, & the other runs with the rest of her chickens still & passed on something that made them all cough, wheeze, have runny noses & stop laying. One apparently got a swollen cheek or something, too.

Well, fingers crossed they are. They don't crow & my roo was mounting them before I moved him out of their coop/run... Although the one in the 3rd pic out in front is still questionable to me...

Hate to say it, but the combs and red patch coloring on the shoulders scream roo in EE's. Better pictures of their backs and head neck photos would help.

I never thought of using gardening gloves, I use a spatula to scrap the roost and a shovel for the floor. Thinking of going to river sand, I really liked the idea. I used to feel sorry for dead raccoons on the road. Since having chickens I now actually think how great karma is, I havn't had anything attack my chickens yet, I hope I have them good and secure. But I heard from this website that raccoons can totally dismember your chickens, sounds horrible

We haven't had a raccoon attack any of our chickens. Since it's practically free to trap them (one neighbor gave me a trap to borrow & another promises her boyfriend will take him to some woods far away for me) I would like to do it... just b/c raccoons don't even JUST prey on chickens. Their populations are un-naturally supported by humans & the food & garbage they tend to carelessly abandon. One stole my neighbor's pineapple right off of her plant! They root in trash. They climb trees & contribute to the decline of songbirds by eating their eggs. They are vectors. They are disgust me.

Now... clearly we have a raccoon since it keeps knocking the grill drippings pan over. Unless, of course, it's our suburban neighborhood fox or possum, but it would seem that you need hands to do this. Raccoons have creepy little hands.

I put catfood in the trap & so far I haven't caught a raccoon. I decided to defrost a T-bone & make my husband grill tonight. I think the grill is what entices the little buggar to come visit. Will keep everyone posted with how that goes.
