So just for the heck of it I decided to candle my Dom eggs to see if I could find anything &&& guess what?!?!?!

Out of my 18 eggs so 5 have definite veins & growth, 2 have veins & growth but are still questionable (1 has a crack from my oldest trying to turn them before telling me & the other's growth is just slightly smaller than the previous 5), 2 more are questionable about starting growth, & ending with only 9 that I know are completely clear still! YAY!!! I think that is pretty good for shipped eggs & my first try at incubating...

Now fingers crossed that I didn't just jynx myself by sharing the news but I am too excited to hold it it!

I am. My hubby put something over it that my father-in-law gave him to kind of seal the crack but the chick can still hatch out when or if it gets ready... So we thought hey why not put it in & try. I was maybe expecting only 1 or so to have anything if anything at all, so I am beyond excited for right now. lol...

HOLY CHICKENS!

No one warned me what evil spawn a raccoon could be.

Seriously, the ground all around the cage is DESTROYED. The metal cat food can I used as bait is RIPPED TO SHREDS. This is a raccoon, I'm sure of it. Not a honey badger.

Hi all!

New to the chicken thing but not birds really. Just picked up six Speckled Sussex chicks last weekend that are growing like weeds. Can't wait to see them full grown!

Interested in Iowa Blues and other Sussex colors, especially silver, red, and brown. Hope to help develop both breeds, and maybe show later, while they help me by providing eggs and meat. :)
