FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Maye in chicken math you only count the ones that are laying, and that's what you have

with this in mind we will find out that we really do NEED more chickens

I get about 6 eggs a day right now. I have 7 girls that are old enough to lay. One just hatched some babies and is getting back to normal. Hopefully eggs from her again soon. I have a few more that are about old enough. An Orp, a Serama and a d'uccle. My lovely Silkie I lost was also almost old enough. Can't wait for my first tiny Serama egg :)

Quote: I don't know, that doesn't sound like normal behavior for a chicken, but it may be what is normal for her. When hens go broody they usually just want to stay on the nest, will fluff up, growl, & peck when disturbed there. This behavior you describe sounds like she might be in pain or have some discomfort. Check her for parasites and injury to see if that is the cause.

It could just be what the little voices only she hears in her head are telling her to do...

Hi all. Due to some unfortunate family problems, I will most likely need to sell all of my birds. I would like to try to potentially find some takers just in case.

I have
5 chickens about 1.5 years old: silkie, buff orpington, plymouth rock, EE, and brown leghorn
10 cornish cross- 6 weeks old ready to process in about 2 weeks.
6 rouen ducklings hatched 2/3/12, I am pretty sure I have 2 trios (1-m 2-f)
1 Muscovy pair about 10 months old- black and white
11 day old muscovy ducklings from above pair

I will entertain any offers.
I should know within a week if they need to go. Please PM me if you would be interested.

Edited to add
Someone is interested in the chickens so ducks or meat birds?

I think it's an injury. She is still eating, so I am hopeful that she will pull out of this, but I am not TOO optimistic, since she seems to stand still a LOT.

On a side note, I think I am going to take my EE roo to the lady I am going to go get some more chicks from, and see if I can trade him for a hen. I decided I wanted colored eggs sooner rather than later. He was my "spare" Roo. Maybe I should just keep him, and still get some EE hens? I can only have 8 total, and since the silkie is probably on her way "out" that leaves me with 5. So at this point, I can get 3 hens (one EE, one Aussie, and one BR) But then, if I trade him, I could get another copper maran

Howdy, fellow Floridians!
I posted on another forum but thought maybe here would be better...
It looks like the elementary school where my daughter goes and where I also run the kids' garden is looking to do a hatching project or two. Is there anyone around Pinellas County that will have fertilized eggs in the next few weeks or so? They don't have to be anything fancy...or they can be...(I would love to show them blue eggs and hear, "WHOA!")
Just let me know!
Thanks!
