ok, how do we know who is who tomorrow? Is there like a table that says "All backyard chicken forum members meet here" ?

You'll know me, because I will be the lady with 2 dog crates saying "please check my chickens!"

I have a dark green Scion and will be wearing my cute chicken earrings. I'll be the one with the cage full of roosters!

I don't know anything about sour crop though. Have you tried ACV in their water? I *think* that's the treatment. A search here should yield plenty of good advice.

We were already a little tight with building the chicken run, and my dh is not exactly thrilled that we have to spend any more money "this" week.

However, our good news is we only spent about $50 on a chicken run, and that is with using hardware cloth $30, $10 hinges and lock, $8 screws, and less than $10 in lumber. We used 1 and 3/4 x 1 and 3/4 wood from the back of lowes (un treated) and made a 6x4 so it will maximize the hardware cloth. This isn't a forever solution, but Only about $10 is really throwaway material so I am good with that :) We will have to work on a real coop, but this will get us through the next month or so.

Question, Can I paint the wood? I need to do something to protect it from the elements and termites......

Hey, Also, one of my new young hens seems to be really aggressive with the "original" flock. She is an Aussie. I am worried that she is going to be trouble when she gets older. Should I think about getting rid of her, or do I just wait til I get them all into a bigger space and let them fight it out? The other 3 newbies are just fine now. I waited 48 hours before I combined them.

I've got GOSLINGS! White Embdens like the one in my avatar photo. My bantam Biscuit just hatched 2 girls, I've got more goose eggs under 3 other bantam hens. I will be selling them when they're a few weeks old for $25. Let me know if you or someone you know would like some.

Give them some more time and see how they shake down together. Usually chickens will work out their poultry politics within a few days, and figure out where everyone fits in the pecking order. After that there's seldom more fighting or fuss, perhaps a quick peck if someone lower dares to eat or drink in front of her superior. Just watch for any actual bloodshed, or the rare Mean Chick who will cause real injury and won't quit.

Sometimes the coop reminds me of Junior High School...
