You don't really want to bring a new hen in with some other girls that are getting close to laying age.
First, the new hen will upset the apple cart so to speak and could delay the existing girls from starting to lay. Second, when you bring in just one hen, she has a hard time adjusting. You should always bring in at least two birds at a time. Third, sometimes the new hens will stop laying due to the stress of being moved to a new environment.

It isn't always trouble bringing in new birds, but it could be.

I got to meet tigercreek today, and came home with a truck full of Delawares and Aussies. If you ever get a chance, you have to see his barred rocks. They are the most beautiful birds I have ever seen. Will post some pictures tomorrow of my new babies. I wanted to give them a day without having a crazy lady with a camera chasing them around.

Thank you, Stan.

Maye

Thanks Maye,

I've been working all week on my hoop coop and I finally finished it today complete with a canvas shade, even though half of it is under a metal awning out side my living room window. A sort of live chicken TV. LOL I'll try to post pics tomorrow cause it was too cloudy today and it got too dark early.

Cindy,
You will love stan's birds I have some of his Aussies and they are beautiful. There are some pics posted back a few pages.

Wow, there are so many beautiful breeds of chickens and I only have room for 4...what ever shall I do? I have already got a list going of "wish I hads"....
