FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I have a warm fuzzy feeling to share with you Florida folks.

I took my older Wheaten Roo outside for the first time. He's into his third week of age. He was acting a bit Lethargic and I thought some space and foraging might do him good. He was a bit overwhelmed by all the wide open space and being alone . He just stood there. After about five mins I could tell he was still uncomfortable.
I said in a soothing voice;
"it's going to be ok."

He glanced over to me about 4 feet away and did two hops and flew over to perch on my knee.

I am loved.
feels good man.
That IS a warm fuzzy feeling!

Yes, once the rain stops I will take some updated pix. They are only a few months old but one is fully feathered and the other is close. Aside from the feathered shanks I was disappointed when I realized that they would be small. I am just starting to let them range with the the big birds.
Could you post a pic of that bird. I've got a EE/Silkie chick and I'm wondering what it'll look like. Right now it's an ugly bird with a mohawk!

FuzzyButts- I am glad to hear you and yours are ok.Its kinda scarey to realize someone we know came that close to the plane crash. They say on the news up here in Brevard that the plane was falling apart well before the crash and you actually have plane parts on your carport.I am glad its was on your carport rather than some where else...

That piece of plane had quite a few sharp edges and if it would of hit someone it would have cause some major injuries. I'm so glad it didn't. I was in the barn working on fencing in the top of the Leghorns stall to keep the out of the main flocks stalls when I heard it fly over. It's engines were still running. Don't try to go looking for the crash site cause the information has changed since it first went down. They don't want a lot of sight seers out there.

Yes, They are saying the wreckage is scattered over about 4 miles. They are saying the body of a young boy is still missing.I walked in on the end of a news segment but they were discussing the possibility of the young boy being sucked out of the plane. They REALLY dont want people out there or even touching the wreckage. They keep stating call the Sheriffs dept? Its so sad and so disturbing that a young boy is out there some where.

Don't have a clue as to whats going on. The sheriff's truck has been by a couple times today. I guess they got their hands full. The piece of airplane is still on top of the carport. My daughter and I are going to take a walk out to the back of the property later just to make sure there isn't anything back there.

Went for a long walk. Couldn't find anything but I did find out the girl they interviewed on tv lives behind us. Small world. If you look at the newest pictures of the crash site you can see sand, oak trees and palmettos. None of which grow in the wet lands or swamp as they are calling it. I know first had about that. I lost about half of my trees when we had the flood of 2005, right after I bought this property. The property right next to mine is SWIFT mudd property (or wet lands). We could see the glow of the search lights on the horizon. This whole thing is so tragic. They are lucky they found the body of the 13 yr. old boy. There are areas out here where you would never find one.

I am so glad to hear they found the boy.I watched the 6 o'clock news and didnt see anything about it.Guess I wasnt paying attention.I wondered about the comments about the crash being in the swamp.Every picture showed sand and trees.I must admit the entire thing scares the life out of me.I have only been back in Florida for about 2 years now,and where I live is right next to the Melbourne airport.I am about 4 streets from the runway. And I am in the direct flight path. Its not the busiest airport but we do have commerical flights, military air planes, coast guard air planes, and we are the main airport for the students at F.I.T. So I have a plane going over about every 10-15 minutes during day light hours.A couple months ago their there was a crash but on the other side of the airport. This neighborhood has been here forever and everyone assures me its safe...but still.
Again I am so glad you and yours are safe.I am glad it landed on your carport and not in one of your beautiful chicken pens.(or the other animals I see in photos-beautiful horse)

Where is everyone this weekend? Had helicopters flying over all morning. Scared the hell out of the horses. They are looking for a 6ft. piece of the wing off the plane. No one has come for the piece on the carport. Lucky its still there after the storm yesterday. It must be heavier than it looks.
And now for something completely different.

Maye you'll be glad to know the chicks have started hatching. First one at noon and another has pipped and starting to zip. They have the prettiest dove eyes. They almost make me melt. I'll post pics when they are done.
