1958 that's why I mentioned secure nightime housing. Wire runs aren't secure housing. All of our geese and ducks have houses they go in at night, so no digging I or reaching in is possible. This is also beneficial for breeding season since they need to be split up. Makes egg identification simple when you collect from seperate houses and stalls.

Celtic, if you have time, would you post a photo of your houses. I need to build some new housing for the Poms, and I am looking for ideas. If you don't use wire on the houses, don't they get really hot when they are closed up. I was thinking 3 sides of plywood and 1 side hardware cloth would be the minimum here in FL.

I have been in touch with MrsMagoo. There are so few people with Poms we have to stick together.

I am still waiting for feathers on the goslings. I hope I can get a breeding pair out of the group of 6, but I am not anticipating perfection from what I am seeing so far. I am just hoping they are full blooded Poms. The guy that sold them to me did not show me the gander. At less than 2 months old it is really hard to tell what I have.

We took Brigitte, our 4 week old Wheaten outside for the first time the other day. I think shes going to be a pretty girl even though she's missing the feathered legs. What do you guys think?

Cindy, we are building a new one currently. I took some pictures today of it to share. Will get them uploaded and posted. It's a very basic design, I am working on how I want the door. Thinking a frame with window screen and hardware cloth sandwiched between the layers. Could have it open during good weather, and closed during storms to prevent blowing rain from soaking the bedding.

Kawonu here on BYC also has buff Poms, incase you didn't know.

Hopefully I would notice something before they got through the hardware cloth that completely encloses my hens' run including under the sand floor.

One of my neighbors feeds her cats outside and sometimes when I come home from work, there is a raccoon eating the food.
