Florida Girl Turned Country!

Thanks for the welcome!

I cooped up the girls for a day and a half, and they ate down a fair amount of the laying mash. No sign of bird feed--they peck at that real fast!!!
Looks like they ate some of the old egg shells, too, although not all of them. They'll eat more when they need to.

I start my new job tomorrow! So Lucy and Ethel will have to stick to eating what we leave them in their coop until we come home from work. Then they get a few hours of free ranging, which of course they love.

Do any of y'all keep a kitchen scrap bowl for your coops? All I've saved until now are egg shells.
What do you like to throw in there??

Thanks, we make plenty of fruit and veggie scraps!

Good heads up on the citrus and avocado.

Our neighbors just tilled their garden and gave us a BUNCH of little watermelons. We've been letting them ripen a bit and then just crack em open and serve!
Depends on what mood the ladies are in, but then that also usually occurs during their free range time. They get distracted. :P
