I have 5 girls (2moran, 2buffs, 1 easteregger). They had been laying like crazy for the last few months and now they barely lay every other day. I am not sure if it because the weather is getting hotter or if it is a change in food needed. They needed an increase in protein because they were arguing a lot and that seemed to correct it. After the increase, they laid once daily, some even twice. We also give them meal worms and produce as snacks. But this last two weeks they are not laying hardly at all. They look healthy and seem to act fine, although I have noticed an increase in calling for us to come visit. Any ideas?

When diet is off, even slightly, it can decrease laying. Also heat can affect laying.

I recommend going back to the commercial feed, skip the protein or reduce it, and give electrolytes in the water and stick a chunk of ice in to cool the hens.
