Hi Chickenhead34. I have one beautiful black show quality roo. He is solid black and split to lavender. I have pictures of his parents. He is about 7 months old and just started crowing 2 weeks ago. I would love to keep him, but I have two and only need one. Are you wanting to breed lavenders? Depending on what you cross him with, there will be a certain percentage of lavenders in his babies. I'm in Jacksonville near NAS on the westside.

how are chickens sold at this? is it like the Bent Creek chicken swap but bigger and having a show too?

I want to talk my husband into going and picking up some hens (3-4) but if the 'shopping' is only one time or particular times we
ll have to wait for Bent Creek.

Yeah, judging starts at 9:00..depending on how many birds are entered as to when the judging will be over. Takes a good 3-4 hours or more depending on how many judges there are.

I'm sure there will be sellers set up early. Probably the best day if you want to buy will be on Saturday. The final judging on Champion Row is Sunday morning, and everyone usually clears out after that.

Jan 2010, I was there and there were vendors with TRUCKs full of chickens for sale - - -

There was some guy from North Carolina with light and dark brown leghorns, There was another guy from Miami there, another guy with a truck load of cochins, another guy with seabrights, etc. . .

So. .. People bring MORE than what they bring to the Bent creek.

That all happens outside of the building that the show is going on in.

It was sooooo Colllllllddddd BUrrrrrr Last time, that I did not wander around as much as I would of liked to. I had expected MORE last time. The BYC table said it was the smallest they had seen in years and that they thought the freezzzzzing weather had something to do it.

We are suppose to be so much nicer this year. I was cold and OMG WINDY last time. I had to of been CRAzzzy to take my family out in that weather
