florida winter cold

Just wondering since I am cold, and it is going to go to 30 degrees, do I need to offer them a heat lamp or will the 6 chickens be warm enough in their off the ground house?

What breed of chicken? That is an important piece of information..

1 rhode Island red.1 production red, 2 buff orfington, and I forgot what the two big black ones are but they are hefty girls and great brown egg layers

Just read an article about a woman who raises chickens in Alaska with no heat in the hen house. We decided not to add heat to our coop because we were told that they need to acclimate to the cold and if you add heat and then the heat goes out for whatever reason you could loose your chickens. Its was 11 degrees with snow last night and they were fine this morning although they really don't like the snow. We have BOs, BRs EEs and one we think is an RIR.

They'll be fine. They have built-in down coats. You don't. Keep them dry and out of the wind, make sure their coop has plenty of ventilation.
