Flowering Vines in Run?

Quote:
Are you shure it will survive the winter? I love it also but I know that it does not do well here in the winter. We are only about 200 miles from each other so basicaly the same climate.

I am also in the need of a vine so keep the answers coming.

I have morning glory seeds I am planting outside my coop tomorrow, and am thinking about adding sweet peas or honeysuckle. Or maybe wild roses, have a bunch along the fence line I could dig up, and maybe the thorns would help deter any would be predators.

I read a post yesterday that "sweet pea PLANTS" not the veggies are toxic to chickens. Please check it out!

I had a star jasmine in a pot for several years, and then I moved... and it stayed behind - that was only a few towns away. The other day I found some and the star jasmine were cold hardy to 20 degrees - so I picked the Pink Jasmine which said it was cold hardy to 10 degrees. I hope it survives, as I love the way they smell!

Angel Trumpets are toxic! http://www.ehow.com/facts_7382605_angel-trumpet-plants-toxic_.html Check out the link also http://www.ehow.com/facts_7662782_toxic-flowering-vines.html

It
lists the different kinds of toxic vines~ I just learned on it the Carolina Jasmine Vine is toxic!! I didn't know that. So just be careful around the chickens. I am an avid gardner and have many plants in and around the the house~ especially Vines!! I love them so much but will have to be careful around the chickens with some of them. Somebody gave me recently whats called a devils trumpet, which is just like the angels trumpet except the flowers point upward! But because if its toxicity I will be planting it out front where the chickens won't be!
