Hi everyone! I need some help for my lovely Henrietta (aka Hen). She's a white 8 month old sassy girl, whom we adore. She's the head of the flock, nosy, full of personality, LOVES her dried mill worms so much she will fly into the bag :)...
A 6 days ago I noticed that all of that wonderful personality was gone. She just stands in the corner of her pen on the ground staring and not moving. Feathers are all puffed up she looks like a beach ball. To my knowledge she's drinking, but she has not been eating. If she has it's very minimal and just pecking off the ground. She doesn't even have interest in her favorite treat, her bugs. It's very confusing! Other than that there's nothing too off about her besides her missing personality and her Stillness and not eating. She does walk slightly slower though. I have checked her crop and it's nice and flat and as of now all I can feel is her breastbone. I have felt her back end and feel no lumps. I checked her vent and it's perfectly healthy looking. I was told but other chicken caretakers to start her on corid, as they thought that she sounded like she had cocci. I gave her 0.5 ml through the beak for 3 days, and added a teaspoon to a gallon of water for 3 days also. I have also given her some probiotics in her water. She started to perk up a bit in the mornings but after about an hour she's back to her corner, still not eating but now has diarrhea. I'm wondering if it's from the medicine. Her comb is nice and red and doesn't look any different than it ever has and her eyes are very much the same... not anything present to be worried about there. She does seem to be droopy in the butt area. Usually her tail is straight up in the air like a pointy butt chicken but now it's more just horizontal along with her body. I put de dust in her Coop just in case also. I really don't know what else to do. I can't find anything that matches her symptoms besides possibly parasites or worms which is why I gave her the corid. Please help my little sassy pants chicken! The 2 pics are now .

I don't know about that corid dose. I always do 1.5 to 2 tsp per gallon of water and just treat everyone. You shouldn't give any vitamins during that time and the corid solution should be their only source of water. Someone else might have another opinion but corid can't hurt to treat the whole flock. I would do it for a couple weeks and see if she improves.

The whole flock does have access to the water, ok I will put more in thank you for your suggestion !!

You might try giving her a dose of calcium citrate in case she is egg bound. If you dont have that a couple tums might help. Usually they can't survive being egg bound for long so the sooner the better. I don't know how to tell for sure if that's the problem so let me tag some people who know more: @Wyorp Rock @azygous

How much does she weigh? Direct oral dose of liquid Corid is .10ml given orally once daily for 3 days, this is in addition to her drinking the Liquid Corid at a rate of 2tsp per gallon of water for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water.

Is she pooping - what's that like?

I'd re-check her crop to make sure it's emptying overnight. Work on hydration and see that she's eating.

I agree, I'd get Calcium into her. Give 1 Calcium Citrate tablet daily for a week. Since she's not been laying, then she may be having some reproductive difficulties.

I'd say 5 lbs. She's has diarrhea in seems because it's all over her bum feathers. It's yellowish white in from the looks of her bum.
When I feel her crop it feels empty and all I feel is her breastbone bones. Its flat , so is that empty?

Currently she's pecking at an apple w the flock. I saw her bum, it's got dark brown runs on it. Much different from yesterday. Looks like a bath is in order!
I did give her the .5ml 2 times a day for 3 days of the corid, so I'm good there. .
Can you tell me how to giver her the Calcium? She does get egg shells and oyster shells, is that the same thing? Thanks for your reply!!!
