What would cause a duckling to pip upside down then fluid to fill in around tht opening and plug up that open and kill the duckling. This is my third duckling that pipped in a wrong spot but this last one is the first one this hatch that had this happen.

I have had this happen in the past it is like some of the fluid just turns into a super glue around them ruining the break in the shell.

Sticky ducklings can be a result of excessive humidity. What humidity did you aim for during incubation? And do you mist and cool your duck eggs?
I don’t mist and cool standard size duck eggs just cook them I do mist and cool bantams but these were standard size duck eggs. They lost the right amount of moisture based on air cells but for ever reason this one had that super glue like substance fill in around the pip
