I have a 1 yr old hen that was fine until yesterday. Got home from work and noticed that she was a little slow when I let all the girls out to free range. I noticed some poop on her rear and when I picked her up and flipper her over to check out her bum, a rancid fluid came out of her mouth. (all over me, my clothes and shoes) It stunk BAD! Her crop was squishy and fluid filled. The poop that was on her bottom, was a bright yellow. No white or anything mixed in. She walked around a bit outside, but came back in and just drank more water (slowly). This AM her crop is filled up alot and she is lethargic. Showed some interest in scrmbled eggs I made her for breakfast.
I have her in a separte cage so I can esily catcher for, monitor poop, and control diet. But what could this be?
Should I hold her upside down to "drain" the crop? I would like to find the solution to it filling with fluid.
Thanks everone!
