Greetings,

I have some duck eggs that I am attempting to hatch. It is about day 23 for them, and we canceled them to check up on their development. In two of the eggs, we saw some fluid in the air cell. Is this normal, or is it an issue. If it is an issue, what causes it, and how can it be helped?

Thanks!

Hi, if there is noticeable fluid in the air cell, or the egg sloshes around inside when you gently shake it, the egg is most likely a dud. By day 23 there should be some obvious veins in the egg, if you don't see any its a dud, you could post a picture if you'd like and I could take a look.

We went in and candled them, and we are starting to think that it has actually piped internally. I don't really know how we misjudged the day the eggs were on, but here we are. Unfortunately we rotated them up until this morning. Any advice on how to help the eggs?

Yes, we see movement in all of the eggs. I believe only two have piped internally, however. We have raised the humidity, and we have also stopped rotating the eggs.

We candled last night, and we saw a shadow that we assumed was fluid in the air cell but was probably the start to the pip.
