Hi everyone,
When I went to collect eggs from my chicken coop, I found it full of flies, which were large but couldn't fly. Although my chickens love eating them, I think it is putting them off laying in the coop. What do you guys think? Do you know how to get rid of the flies?šŸ”

Where is your general location. All flies that I know of, do fly away.
If your chickens snack on them, I would just let that occur and not stop them. Eating those insects should not have any negative effect on egg production. In fact, additional protein from insects is a good thing for egg production.
If you do include your location in your profile, it helps peeps, easier to give advice. You do not put your address, just city, state, county, or country is sufficient.

I had a fly issue for a little bit a few years back. I ended up buying some kind of parasite/assassin bug that you sprinkled around the pen and they ate the flies. It solved the issue pretty quick! Not sure what they were called though.

:welcome :frow When I had a mite infestation, I sprayed inside the coops with permethrin. The bonus was it also got rid of the flies. Some companies use it in cow ear tags to help keep the flies away. If you have a TSC they carry the permethrin poultry dust, premixed spray bottles and the concentrate. No egg withdrawal period. I also put some of the dust in the nest boxes. I did do a few weekly sprays. To my surprise it also eliminated the flies. Good luck...
